ST. PAUL MISSION HISTORICAL SOCIETY - ST. PAUL, OREGON

Preservation of the history of early Oregon and the French Prairie region of the Willamette Valley

Welcome

Saint Paul Mission Historical Society is developing a public database of historically significant manuscripts and photos from the SPMHS collections and the Harriet D. Munnick collection.

Harriet D. Munnick was one of French Prairie's most prolific historians. Unfortunately, much of her work was never published and has not been available to the general public. All of her research and documents were donated to the SPMHS. The Board of Directors decided that the materials should be digitized, cataloged, and indexed in a PastPerfect database. The Austin Family Foundation provided multiple grants, and Oregon State University graduate students were hired to create this database. At present, thousands of images are found under the "collections" tab on this page.

In 2019, the Schwemm Family Foundation provided funds to digitize almost 100 French Prairie family histories collected by Joe McKay, St Paul Mission Historical Society's founder. These donated family histories contain valuable information for family historians and Oregon history researchers. Harriet D. Munnick also donated her research notes and writings to the Society and they are included in this collection.
